The three most persuasive parts of this text are: - "But the rules of high school turn out not to be the rules of life."
- "The result is that the culture of the inside elite is not contested by the adults in the school.Individuality and dissent are discouraged."
- "They need to enter a world where they are not in a lunchroom with only their peers, estranged from other age groups and cut off from the game of life as it is really played."

"The rules of high school turn out not to be the rules of life." This is the most persuasive part of the text. The author had numerous examples of the differences between high school life and adult life. One strong example, is that college which is one step from high school, does not segregate students by age groups. The author goes on to state that only high school separates students by chronology. These points highlight the differences between high school life as it relates to the real world.

Bullet three is more important to me because students do need to be around others other than their own peers. Everyone is not able to go from talking to their peers to older people or younger people in a way the people would understand. I think everyone needs to take a class on social development. This class will help improve ones skills to talk to people and help them improve the way they approach different age groups. Most people will not approach a person because they have no clue what to say. By taking a social class, it will help them to become better at approaching others and speaking to others outside of their circle.

I think bullet two is the most persuasive because it explains that teachers are discouraging the students and not paying attention to them. The author gave examples of why this happens and what occurs to make this happen. Some teachers when they where in school were popular so they don't see themselves in some students situation. It goes on to say that coaches themselves are placed in a separate, untouchable category.
